Chromabase. I have a little shop in Minnesota, where I part out cars, & buy cars to fix & sell. I just did an 08 navigator that had hit a deer, & I'm building an 08 F150 4x4 crew cab right now. So I have painted parts of 40+ cars myself. The PPG product are good (like their DBC and Global base coat). Just stay away from the PPG Omni base & clear. It's substantially cheaper, but there's a reason. The Omni base is only $50-$60 a quart, so it's 1/3 the price. The base color doesn't have the deep, rich color that the DuPont Chromabase has. And the Omni clear doesn't glass out like the Chromabase either. The Chromabase looks amazing. I used Omni to paint the front fascia, nose panel, & mirrors of my Z about 3 years ago, & the clear chipped off really bad. You get what you pay for.
The guy that was helping me paint my Z is a very experienced painter. He likes the Dupont Chromabase, & he knows it's products very well, so that's what we decided on for this project. Plus the Dupont auto body store has a new computer controlled paint mixer. It was a super expensive system, but it knows the consistence of each paint, & it controls the mix, so it's always identical. So I could go back there in a year, order the same paint, & it would be a perfect paint match. I wouldn't need to do any blending, unless there had been some fading.
